Import Files
Importing files refers to importing already saved and processed media files from directories outside the media library (e.g., the downloads folder). For example, if a user has just downloaded a movie "abc.mp4" using qBittorrent, and the movie is located in a common downloads directory such as "C:\Downloads", the user may want to import "abc.mp4" into the media library "[Movie03]". In this case, the PLM's import file function should be used. If "abc.mp4" has already been copied/moved to the relevant folder of [Movie03], then the "Import files from current dir" function should be used.
Import File Process
Please watch the video.
Importing files can be divided into several steps:
- Add Files
- Batch Playback Check (Optional)
- Select Records; Physically Delete Unnecessary Specific Files
- Scrape
- Check for Duplicates (Whether it already exists in the library)
- (Single/Batch) Edit properties, mainly to determine which directory to import to
- (Foreground/Background) Go
Specific operation process:
- Click the "Import" button on the main interface toolbar.
- Enter the "Select files" interface. If it is not a default movie/video, ensure the scan type is correct. You can click the scan type drop-down box in the upper left corner to select types such as "Video folder/Image folder/Audio folder".
- Click the "Source" button in the upper left corner, select the folder where the files to be imported are located. PLM will search this folder and its subfolders for files matching the selected scan type.
- If you have imported files before, you can also select from the history folder list to the right of the "Source" button.
- After listing the file list, check the appropriate files and press "OK". PLM needs some time to load the detailed information of the selected files.
- The above process can be repeated multiple times until all files have been added.
- Now you can perform batch 4xN (4 files per screen) playback selection for all files. During playback, you can press "+" or "-" to switch to the next/previous 4 files. You can uncheck inappropriate files.
- For the selected films, you can perform "Scrape" operations. Each scrape should select films of the same type (Movie/AV) and then select the correct (multiple) scrapers.
- You can click the "Dup check" button to search the library for similar or even identical files based on the title, code, checksum, etc. of the selected files. If there are duplicates, a duplicate list will be displayed for the user to decide whether to uncheck them again.
- You can click "Edit" or "Batch edit" to edit the properties of single or multiple files. The key is to determine the target path. You can also choose to change the target file name.
- Click "Go" or "BG Go" to confirm and start the import operation for the selected file list. PLM will pop up the default import parameters, with the target path and multi-action being the most important.
- After confirming, PLM will start the foreground or background file import work.
