What are parts?

Parts are a feature in PLM designed to allow users to easily define the properties of specific segments within audio and video files. For example, users can define the first 1 minute 30 seconds of a movie/video as an advertisement, or define the segment from 25 minutes 40 seconds to 35 minutes 15 seconds as highlights. Through these selection definitions, PLM can skip advertisements or only play the specified highlights during playback.

Part types

  1. Undefined
  2. Start position: Defined as the video's starting position
  3. End position: Defined as the video's ending position
  4. Advertisement: Defined as an advertisement segment
  5. Damaged part: Defined as a damaged portion of the file
  6. Bad part: Uncomfortable for you
  7. Parental Guidance
  8. Restricted
  9. Highlight part
  10. Best part
  11. Countdown: Climax countdown

Countdown type parts

Countdown type parts are special, specifically designed for AV videos. You only need to set a single point as the climax (emission) position C. During playback, the N1 seconds before and N2 seconds after will be automatically included as the entire climax segment.

How to define parts?

When playing a file using the PLM built-in player (not the standalone player plmplay), click the "{" button at the starting position of the part you want to define to start defining position 1. Then, drag to the ending position of the part (position 2) and click the "}" button to complete the definition of a segment. Note that the Start point/End point/Countdown types only require clicking the "{" button to complete the definition.

Play only a specific type of parts

When playing a file in the PLM player, select an option like "Countdown only" in the selection box in the lower right corner of the player to control the playback behavior.

Clear parts

Open the file for "Edit". In the "Other" tab of the file properties, you can clear the content of the "Parts" input box or click the "Edit" button nearby to delete/reorder parts.

Copy parts (Used for duplicated files editing)

Open the file for "Edit". In the "Other" tab of the file properties, copy the "Parts" input box and paste it into the "Parts" of another target file.

Media Converter to cut parts

You can easily extract parts into clipped segments in the Media Converter.
